    A. História da Internet:

  2. Internet Histories – Mais de vinte documentos em inglês excelentemente pesquisados sobre a origem e o desenvolvimento da Internet, fornecidos pela Internet Society, uma das organizações mais importantes e influentes da rede. Este é um dos sites mais completos de informação sobre a Internet, sua história, infra-estrutura, normas, protocolos, regras, etc. A ISOC se descreve como:

    The Internet SOCiety (ISOC) is a professional membership society with more than 150 organizational and 6,000 individual members in over 100 countries. It provides leadership in addressing issues that confront the future of the Internet, and is the organization home for the groups responsible for Internet infrastructure standards, including the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB).

  3. A Brief History of the Internet – Resumo da história da Internet relatado em inglês por Walt Howe, com observações sobre fatos históricos interessantes, irônicos e até cômicos sobre o desenvolvimento da rede.

  4. Hobbes' Internet Timeline – História da Internet em inglês, relatada cronologicamente por Robert Zakon, dando uma idéia do que estava acontecendo nos Estados Unidos e no resto do mundo quando da criação e desenvolvimento da rede.

  5. How the Internet Came to Be – Relato pessoal da história da Internet, narrado em inglês por Vinton Cerf, um dos “fundadores” da rede, em entrevista dada a Bernard Aboba. Este relato de primeira pessoa é interessante e muito importante, tanto do ponto de vista pessoal como histórico, pois nos dá uma visão privilegiada do nascimento e desenvolvimento da rede, vicenciados por alguém que foi parte integral dessas transformações.

  6. Pequena História da Internet – Resumo da história da Internet em português feito por uma internauta brasileira de nome Maria Ercília (o sobrenome não foi dado). Além do resumo histórico, a autora fornece definições sobre os vários aspectos da rede, tais como o correio eletrônico, a word-wide-web, ftp, a usenet (grupos de discussão), o IRC (bate-papo), etc.

  7. O que é a Internet? – Perguntas e respostas em português fornecidas por Euclydes de Oliveira Cardoso Júnior sobre o que consiste a Internet, quando, onde e como surgiu e informações adicionais sobre o atual status da rede.

Site em inglês mantido por Mike Smith da University de Brighton, Inglaterra. Não oferece listagem de scripts ou applets específicos para fins determinados, apenas instruções gerais.

  158. Online Language Exercises – Excelente site em inglês elaborado por Jon Aske do Salem State College sobre o uso da Internet no ensino de línguas. Aborda especificamente exercícios e exames interativos e os scripts necessários para gerá-los. Tem boas referências bibliográficas (intergráficas, biblionéticas?) sobre onde conseguir mais informação sobre o assunto.

  159. Creating Language Interactivity on the Web – Oficina em inglês formulada pelo Prof. Juan Ramón de Arana do Ursinus College, Pennsylvania, para orientar professores de línguas estrangeiras com algum conhecimento de HTML em como usar scripts nas suas página para as tornarem mais interativas.

  160. Suite “Hot Potatoes” – Suite de programas grátis da Half-Baked Software (do tipo MS Front Page) que permite o programador de HTML acrescentar ao seu site informações, exercícios e provas interativas. Análises críticas em inglês desse software foram feitas por Dawn Ebbrell da Univ. de Hull, Inglaterra, e por Steven Yoell.   Imperdível!  Esse programa é um presente caído do céu!

    Alguns sites feitos com a suite Hot Potatoes:

  161. English as a Second Language – Site em inglês sobre ESL. Contém uma excelente listagem (“Quizzes”) de vários exemplos de Java script para exercícios e exames que podem ser facilmente adaptados a outras línguas estrangeiras. Dos scripts mencionados neste site, vale a pena checar os seguintes:

      Observação: Juntamente com uma breve discussão do script, dou abaixo uma nota (x/10) para cada aplicação, de acordo com a versatilidade de uso e aplicabilidade a cursos de língua estrangeira.

    1. Aardvark's English Forum and ESL Resources – O aluno preenche um espaço em branco ou marca um item de múltipla escolha e envia as respostas. O script dá as respostas corretas, diz se o aluno acertou ou não, e dá as notas parcial e final deste. Nota 7/10.

    2. Better English – O aluno escolhe uma de quatro ou cinco opções e clica no botão correspondente. Se a resposta for incorreta, o script manda a aluno tentar novamente. A nota é calculada cumulativamente à medida que o aluno faz o exercício, de acordo com o número de respostas corretas obtidas. Nota 9/10.

      Observação: Se o aluno “tentar” achar a opção correta, clicando em várias opções erradas, cada uma dessas diminue a sua nota final. Este script poderia ser usado como exame em casa ou sala de aula já que o aluno não pode mudar suas respostas e é penalizado por cada opção incorreta que ele clicar.

    3. Easy Vocabulary Quizzes with Pictures – O aluno escolhe um de tres gráficos que descreva uma palavra especificada. Ao clicar, o script abre uma janela e indica se a resposta é correta ou não, dando também uma nota parcial que é calculada à medida que o aluno faz o exercício, de acordo com o número de respostas corretas obtidas. Nota 9/10.

      Observação: Se o aluno tentar mudar a opção, o script não permite e indica que o aluno já fez sua escolha. Este script poderia ser usado como exame em casa ou sala de aula já que o aluno não pode mudar suas respostas. A estrutura do mesmo poderia ser mudada, substituindo os gráficos por texto.

    4. ESL Blues – Vários tipos de exercícios (múltipla escolha, preencher espaço em branco, etc.), depois dos quais o aluno recebe as respostas corretas, com uma nota final. Nota 7/10.

    5. English Lessons and Tests – O aluno preenche um espaço em branco, clica em um botão, e o script informa se a resposta é correta ou não. Este script não dá nota, mas informa se o aluno obteve respostas parcialmente corretas. Nota 7/10.

    6. Quiz Zone – Vários tipos de exercícios (múltipla escolha, preencher espaço em branco, etc.), onde as respostas corretas são dadas no final ou à medida que o aluno vai preenchendo os espaços. Em alguns (mas não em todos) desses exercícios o aluno recebe uma nota no final. Nota 7/10.

    7. BBC World English: Quiznet – O aluno escolhe uma de quatro opções que melhor complete a frase dada. No final o script abre uma janela e indica se as respostas são corretas ou não, dando também uma nota final. Nota 8/10.
